Lanzarote – birds and wildlife on a mysterious and magical island – October 2017
New for 2017!
Lanzarote offers great opportunities to see some of Europe’s most special birds in a quite unique island environment. It also offers wonderful walking and photography opportunities on one of the most magical of the Canary Isles. Many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world as a result of the origins of the island in volcanic activity that has created unique almost alien landscapes on the island.
Our Lanzarote tour will take you to the best areas for birding, walking and photography including semi-desert and plains areas, mountains and valleys, saltpans and the coast. The island has a great all year round climate but the best times to visit for birding in particular are early spring and autumn/winter. During these months the islands star resident species are all present and there is also a chance to see rare visitors on migration.
In March 2017 we are offering a 7 night adventure which will give you a great chance to see the local specialties including Cream-coloured Courser, Houbara’s Bustard, Barbary Falcon and Berthelot’s Pipit on the plains, a great variety of waders at the local ‘Salinas’ along with the chance to see early and rare migrants – almost anything could turn up!
We will be based in the resort of Playa Blanca, a small and attractive resort on the south of the island, within easy of access of the best birding sites and boasting lovely beaches, excellent bars, restaurants and hotels and a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
|MEETING POINT||Arrecife airport|
Lanzarote is a small island – only 60km long and 25km wide – with a good road network so getting to the best sites is easy, quick and convenient.
Our Lanzarote Tour will be led by Paul Pearson. Paul has been a regular visit to Lanzarote for the last 6 years and knows the best sites on the island for birding, wildlife and walking as well as great beaches, restaurants and other attractions off the beaten-track.
