This is a special day tour for the real bird-watching enthusiasts.
Our aim will be to find as many of Almeria’s best birds as we can in a single day.
We will pick you up early at around 6.30 am and get breakfast on the way. Our first morning session will focus on Little Bustard and Black-bellied Sandgrouse with a good chance of other plains and steppe birds such as Stone Curlew. After a couple of hours we will take a break for coffee and move on to our next location.
The focus of our second session will be the iconic Trumpeter Finch. We will also have a chance of finding Bonelli’s and Golden Eagles as well as Alpine Swift and Black and Black-eared Wheatears. We will then break for lunch and a chance to recuperate.
Our first session after lunch will focus on Rufous Bush Robin and Marbled Teal – two great local rarities. We will also have the chance to see a range of waders and other waterbirds. we might also be bale to fit in an hour looking for birds in the Andarax Valley such as Golden Oriole, Roller and Nightingale.
We will take another coffee break and relax for a while before heading to our final destination. Our final session of the day will be an evening session looking for Red-necked Nightjar with a chance of finding Scops and Eagle Owl as well as Little Owl.
We should finish around 10.15-30 when we will return you to your hotel or local residence. By the end of the day we will all be tired but we should be very happy after what we hope will have been a highly rewarding day chasing some of the best birds Almeria has to offer!
